Ditka learned his football creed playing the game out on the gridiron. Belichick learned spending hours with his father, longtime Navy football coach Steve Belichick. Ditka was a spark plug on the sidelines, and was known for his feisty quips with fans, journalists and referees. Belichick is normally quite solemn on the sidelines, and is notoriously tight-lipped about almost everything.
But then again, the two are similar. They both led their respective football teams to glory and greatness, and they both have earned a great deal of respect as brilliant coaches in the NFL. Heck, they’ve both even started clothing trends, with Ditka’s trademark Bears sweater and Belichick’s famous hoodie.
Both have established themselves as excellent football coaches, but who is more intimidating?
With Ditka, you never knew what you were going to get. The Bears’ legend had a hot temper on the sideline, but what’s more, he sparked a turnaround that led Chicago to six NFC Central titles and three trips to the Super Bowl. And of course, he is the maestro behind the 1985 Chicago Bears, arguably the best football team in the history of the NFL.
Then there’s Belichick, whose football genius will be talked about for years and years to come. A coach that was writing up plays and analyzing game film when he was just 10 years old. Belichick has absorbed the game so well, and has passed that knowledge onto his players. Belichick led the Patriots through the dynasty years, but what’s more impressive is the fact that he’s led them to greatness when no one was expecting it.
Heading into a matchup with either coach is no easy task, as they both are highly respected in their craft. But which coach was more intimidating?
