The Jets got run over by a train by the name of Tom Brady on Monday night, and with secondary injury issues looming, Gang Green set their sights on a railroad worker on Tuesday.

The Star Ledger reports that the Jets offered a job to former safety and current free agent Keith Fitzhugh, who then turned down the job, as he is already gainfully employed.

Fitzhugh currently works as a Norfolk Southern railroad conductor. He told The Star Ledger that his current job with the railroad offers him more job security than the NFL can, and that's the reason he said no to the Jets.

"I told them I'm very thankful for the opportunity," Fitzhugh told The Star Ledger. "But right now, being that it would be for just a couple weeks, I feel that I'd rather stay with a secure company and job, somewhere I know I could have long-term employment."

Fitzhugh revealed that he needs the steady paycheck at the moment as his father is currently suffering from ailments.

The Jets could sure use the help, too. Safety Jim Leonhard is out for the season, and the Jets saw safety James Ihedigbo go down with a high ankle sprain and an MCL injury on Monday night in Foxboro.

Fitzhugh was signed by the Jets in 2009 to their practice squad before being brought back by the team this offseason. He was released on Sept. 3.
