Suffice it to say, Red Sox fans are talking more about Joe Blanton on this cold Tuesday morning than they ever expected to. That's because we first learned that the Sox and Phillies discussed a trade for Joe Blanton on Monday. Then, we saw a report that said a deal "was in place" to send the righty to Boston.
Now, though, the brakes are pumping.
WBZ's Dan Roche cited a Red Sox source, who said there's "no reason to think a deal for Joe Blanton will happen."
ESPN.com's Gordon Edes also said that the report of a deal being in place was "not true."
"Sox, Phils talked, but no deal, and unlikely to be a deal," Edes reported via Twitter.
