NFL Injury Update: Antonio Gates Inactive as Chargers Face Brodie Croyle, Chiefs

3 p.m.: Antonio Gates will be inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Randy McMichael will start in his place. Vincent Jackson will be active, starting for the inactive Legedu Naanee.

Brandon Marshall is officially active, as is Seattle's Mike Williams.

11:30 a.m.: Week 14 will be an uncharacteristically low-key week in the injuries department, as few new major names appeared on injury reports this week.

Matt Cassell will be out for the Chiefs in San Diego — meaning that Brodie Croyle will get the start. Antonio Gates, who has not practiced all week, will be a game-time decision, though Vincent Jackson and Darren Sproles are likely to play — but not sure things.

Pierre Thomas will finally return to the Saints lineup this week after being absent since Week 3. Brandon Marshall should also be back, after two weeks out.

Santana Moss was listed as questionable, but should be good to go.

Among those others ruled out this week are Marion Barber, Patrick Crayton, Brian Hartline, Heath Miller and Demaryius Thomas. Quarterbacks Shaun Hill, Colt McCoy, and Tony Romo all remain out.

Alex Smith will return as the starter in San Francisco, over Troy Smith.

A number of players, including Brett Favre and Percy Harvin seemed unlikely for Sunday's Giants-Vikings game, but it has been moved to a later date.
