Monday night's 45-3 win over the New York Jets was a landmark occasion for the New England Patriots — and not just because of its playoff implications.

The heated matchup was the third highest-rated game in Patriots history in the Boston area — drawing a 42.2 rating. The previous season high had been 42.04 against the Colts. The most-watched regular season game of all time, however, remains the 2007 contest against the New York Giants with the undefeated season on the line.

Nationally, the game was not only the most-watched program on Monday night, but was the 10th most-watched program in the history of cable television.
