As if Monday night’s Patriots-Jets showdown won’t have enough significance, New England will honor former linebacker Tedy Bruschi during a special halftime ceremony.
One of the greatest Patriots of all time, Bruschi led the team to three Super Bowl victories, and he is the third Patriot to be honored from that era, as Ted Johnson and Troy Brown have had halftime ceremonies of their own.
During his career, Bruschi played in 189 regular-season games, the most of any linebacker in Patriots history. He retired after the 2009 season, and during his 13 years in the league, he led the Pats to 11 winning seasons and amassed over 1000 tackles.
Bruschi has also established himself off the field. He serves as a respected analyst for ESPN, and after suffering from a stroke in 2005, he has immersed himself in charity work. His foundation, “Tedy’s Team” has raised hundreds of thousands dollars for stroke research.
Monday’s game will start at 8:30 p.m. as the Patriots and Jets battle for AFC East supremacy.
