Fresh off one of his most bizarre games in a Celtics uniform, Rajon Rondo is going to be taking some time off.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said on WEEI's The Big Show that the star point guard will miss a couple of weeks with an ankle injury.

Rondo suffered the injury in the fourth quarter, rolling his ankle on a drive to the basket. He was helped to the locker room but returned to play the final 8:34 of the game. He was clearly limited in what he could do, though, and he left Madison Square Garden on crutches, according to CSNNE's Greg Dickerson.

Rondo spent the final 5:30 of the third quarter on the bench after making a series of questionable decisions with the basketball. Reporters at MSG also noted that Rondo was involved in some shouting matches during timeouts. He finished the night with six turnovers, but even at his worst, he was able to register 14 assists and 10 points.

He's missed four games this season due to hamstring and foot issues. The Celtics went 3-1 in those games, with Nate Robinson taking his place and averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 assists and one turnover in 29 minutes per game.

Rondo, in 20 games, is averaging 11.2 points, 13.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game. The NBA announced Thursday that he was the second-leading All-Star vote-getter among Eastern Conference guards, trailing only Dwyane Wade.
