The Green Bay Packers will have their work cut out for them on Sunday Night, as they'll have to go into Gillette Stadium to face the Patriots on Football Night in America without their leader, starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Rodgers, who was listed as doubtful on this week's injury report, will be out on Sunday — meaning that backup Matt Flynn will get the start.
Rodgers suffered his second concussion of the season this past week against Detroit, and while there was outside hope that he could play this week, he was not cleared by doctors.
Former Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell will be activated from the practice squad to serve as Flynn's backup.
The Packers follow up this week's Patriots matchup with games against NFC rivals New York and Chicago at Lambeau Field. At 8-5, Green Bay is currently on the outside looking in as far as playoffs are concerned, but wins in their last two games would likely be enough to be in.
Of course, if Rodgers remains out, that will be a much more difficult task. The team has already lost the likes of running back Ryan Grant and tight end Jermichael Finley for the season — among others.
Flynn has just 25 career completions, and zero career touchdown passes.
