Bruising Bruins defenseman Mark Stuart has a broken hand, according to CSNNE.com.

Head coach Claude Julien, who explained that the B's have yet to hear back from doctors, told reporters that Stuart will be out indefinitely.

The Bruins called up Steve Kampfer from Providence on Wednesday on an emergency basis, just one day after Stuart left Tuesday night's overtime win against the Sabres with an "upper-body injury."

"He's with the doctors right now," said after practice Wednesday. "Hopefully this afternoon we'll have the results.

"The one thing I can tell you you about [Stuart] is that he is going to be out indefinitely," he added. "What I'm not going to tell you is what it is exactly because he's seeing the doctors right now and we haven't gotten the final results."

Stuart missed significant time last season due to an infection that stemmed from a Jan. 30 fight when he broke his finger during a bout with Wayne Simmonds of the Los Angeles Kings.
