With 49 goals in 48 games last season, nobody in European football did more scoring than Luis Suarez.

That kind of production could be on the way to Anfield, as IMScouting.com is reporting that Roy Hodgson has put in a $20 million (12.5 million pound) transfer bid for the Uruguayan striker.

Suarez has been subject to interest from nearly every big club, particularly in light of his spectacular — though controversial — performance in the World Cup.

Ajax's financial difficulties may compel them to sell their captain — and he may have helped secure his exit when he earned a seven-match ban for biting PSV's Otman Bakkal. His goal rate has also decreased, though 11 tallies in 22 matches is still respectable.

The bid is likely too low for Ajax to part ways with their prized possession. They value Suarez at upwards of $33 million (21 million pounds).
