It looks like the Yankees may have beat out the Rangers for a pitcher after all.
According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Yankees have come to terms with right-handed pitcher Mark Prior on a minor league deal.
The Yankees and Rangers were reportedly the only teams in on Prior, and both teams were spurned by Cliff Lee late Monday night when the lefty ace signed with the Phillies.
It's the latest in the round of comeback attempts for the former No. 2 overall pick. Prior last pitched in the big leagues in 2006 for the Cubs, but saw his career derailed by arm injuries.
In that final 2006 season, he posted 1-6 record with a 7.21 ERA in nine starts.
Prior spent part of the 2010 season in the Texas organization making one appearance for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Redhawks.
