Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi spoke to the media less than 24 hours after tripping Miami Dolphins player Nolan Carroll during a third-quarter punt on Sunday, when his Jets lost to the Dolphins 10-6.

"It’s just a situation where I wasn’t thinking," Alosi told reporters on Monday afternoon in New Jersey. "That’s the problem. Nothing was in my head. I wasn’t thinking.

"Had I been thinking, I would have taken a step back instead of going forward," he added.

Alosi has been the Jets' head strength and conditioning coach since 2007 and it appears as if he's going to keep that title despite his actions.

"It’s an honor and a privilege to coach every day, to work every day in the National Football League," he said. "I come into contact with a lot of good people in our building every day, players, staff, coaches, and I let everybody down yesterday with my actions."

He has yet to be contacted or penalized by the NFL league office.

"But whatever the disciplinary actions are, I’m going to accept them," he said. "It’s on me.

"It's been terrible … horrible," Alosi said of the experience. "What I put my family through, what I put my organization through, I wouldn't wish on anybody."
