Even as he was just minutes away from surgery, Terrell Owens was tweeting from his hospital bed.

According to The Associated Press, the Bengals wide receiver underwent season-ending knee surgery on Monday, after aggravating the injury in Sunday's victory over the Browns.

Owens tweeted a photo of himself getting prepped for surgery on Monday afternoon, hospital gown and all.

The 37-year-old hurt his knee a few weeks ago, but decided to try and play through it. The injury took a turn for the worse while Owens was making a cut in the opening series of the Bengals-Browns matchup on Sunday afternoon.

Owens flew from Cincinnati to Birmingham, Ala., where he was examined by Dr. James Andrews on Monday. Judging by Owens' tweets, the wide receiver went in for his procedure around 5 p.m. on Monday evening.

Owens, who is a free agent after this year, compiled solid numbers this season with the Bengals. The 15-year veteran finishes the season leading the Bengals with 72 receptions, 983 yards and nine touchdowns.
