Note to any professional athletes looking for a late-night bathroom break when McDonald’s is closed — don’t even ask, or you may get an employee axed.

Tiffany Langeslay, an assistant manager at a McDonald’s in Minnesota was fired recently after she opened the door at 3 a.m. recently for Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson. The running back had asked to use the restroom when he drove up to the window. Normally, the seating area is closed during the late-night hours not allowing customers inside.

“He’s a public figure. … I know him better than some of the maintenance people that come in and out,” saidLangeslay, the mother of three, to The Consumerist. “I never thought in a million years that that decision was going to cost me my career.”

It’s tough to judge Langeslay’s decision to let Peterson in. After all, it wasn’t like she was letting in a questionable character from the Vikings (cough, cough Brett Favre).

However, the local media picked up the story and thankfully gave it enough attention to pressure McDonald’s into re-hiring Langeslay.

Peterson stayed mum until the situation had been resolved when he wrote on Twitter, “Feel terrible about the nice lady at McDonald’s losing her job. Unfortunately I wasn’t aware of the situation or I would have definitely helped in any way possible. I’m very happy she has been re-hired and wish her the best.”

Next time, if Peterson sees those golden arches and the bathrooms are closed, he should probably try the Burger King next door instead.
