Alex Rodriguez’s Career Salary Far Exceeds LeBron James’ Career Salary Path

Alex Rodriguez and LeBron James are two of the sporting world’s most despised athletes. They also happen to be two of the richest players in their respective sports.

While James is making more money in his eighth professional season than A-Rod was in his nearly a decade ago, Rodriguez is on pace to be in a far better place, reports Business Insider.

A-Rod, who has signed a pair of $250 million contracts so far in his 17-year career, made $33 million last season compared to James, who will make just 14.5 million this year in South Beach.

The Yankees’ third baseman is locked into a deal through 2017 (when he will be 41 years old), and will have earned more than $450 million at that point. James, who like A-Rod also entered his sport before the age of 20, is on pace to make just $172 million through the 2015-16 season. If Bron wants to catch A-Rod in career earnings, he will need to average more than $26 million per season after his current contract until he’s 42, as seen in the chart below.
