Blake Griffin, JaVale McGee, Brandon Jennings, Serge Ibaka to Compete in 2011 Dunk Contest

While LeBron James will miss out on the NBA Dunk Contest during 2011’s All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, three of the league’s most freakishly athletic big men will be throwing down, including the league’s foremost dunker, Blake Griffin.

The Clippers’ rookie has made a name for himself this season for taking the ball to the hoop with unparalleled reckless abandon for some of the best dunks you’ll ever see — and has put up 22 points and 13 rebounds per game thus far.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the likely Rookie of the Year will be joined by Oklahoma City’s Serge Ibaka and Washington’s JaVale McGee, two of the league’s most physically gifted — but raw — talents.

Rounding out the field will be Milwaukee Bucks guard Brandon Jennings. At 6-foot-1, Jennings will be this year’s diminutive contestant, though he has been known as a gifted high flier since his days at Oak Hill Academy.

Dunk contest staples Dwight Howard and Nate Robinson will not be participating in 2011.
