Ravens safety Ed Reed's brother, Brian Reed, went missing on Friday after jumping into the Mississippi River to evade police in St. Charles, La.

"The suspect jumped into the river, went about 15 feet according to the deputy,"  said Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, a spokesman for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to WWLTV.com. "At some particular point they said he did witness hands and head come up and go under the water and never resurface again."

Brian Reed had been pulled over on suspicion of driving another car off the road and was suspected of driving a stolen vehicle. When officers were cuffing him, he took off running, and a chase ensued.

"He was a good person," said Karen Reed, Brian and Ed’s mother. "He kind of had a little run in with drugs and stuff. He had kind of got off it. Other than that he was alright."

The water temperature that Reed jumped into was approximately 40 degrees. Ed Reed is scheduled to play a wild-card round game on Sunday in Kansas City.
