Juan Manuel Marquez is next on Manny Pacquiao’s list.

According to boxingscene.com, Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach wanted a third matchup with Marquez, a three-time division world champion, instead of the upcoming bout with Shane Mosley.

Apparently, Roach didn’t want Mosley as the next opponent for Pacquaio because he believes that Marquez will serve as a greater challenge for the Filipino fighter.

“Marquez is the biggest challenge for Manny,” Roach said. “He’s the only one who knows how to fight with him.”

Pacquiao is still on schedule to fight Mosley on in Las Vegas on May 7, and even though it’s not the opponent Roach wants, he doesn’t expect it to be an easy win for his prized fighter.

“I expect him [Mosley] to be at his best,” Roach said. “He is an experienced fighter with a very dangerous right hand. He is not even close to being finished. He has power and speed. I’d like for Manny to knock him out because nobody has done that before.”

Either way, there should some well-placed punches thrown by Pacquiao and Mosley this May, even if Manny is wishing he was pummeling Marquez instead.
