Herschel Walker Open to NFL Comeback at Age 48, Wants to Be ‘George Foreman of Football’

In today's NFL, running back depth is of the utmost importance. With that in mind, would anyone take a flyer on the 48-year-old Herschel Walker?

Walker still thinks that he can contribute to an NFL team, and according to Fanhouse.com, it sounds like he'd be open to a return to the NFL.

"I know I can play," Walker said on a conference call. "If I continue to stay in the shape I'm in now, I know I can play when I'm 50. Right now, if you asked if I can play today, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that I can play football today, that I can help a team out today."

The 48-year-old made the comments on a conference call to promote his upcoming MMA match. Walker is participating in MMA events at a high level and has continued to keep himself in incredible shape.

Walker, who played 12 seasons in the NFL for four teams, said he wants to become the "George Foreman of football."

Walker retired in 1997 with over 18,000 rushing yards to his name.
