Chicago sports fans are no strangers to having Jim Cornelison belt out the national anthem before Blackhawks games and sometimes Bears games as well. On Sunday, though, in front of a national TV audience, Cornelison showed off his pipes for all of America.
As is tradition in Chicago, the "Star-Spangled Banner" was sung to the adoring crowd who, as they usually do in Chicago, voiced their approval with loud cheering and singing. Cornelison's version of the anthem inspired a raucous crowd that was later treated to a 35-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks after the Bears seized momentum, jumping out to a 21-0 lead.
Cornelison's rendition wasn't the only notable singing of the week. Earlier in the week, a young anthem singer at an AHL game was helped along by the crowd when her microphone went out during the singing.
