There are a lot of celebrities to have their hands and feet imprinted outside of Grauman's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, but Kobe Bryant is about to break the mold.

The Lakers' star will be the first athlete honored with a ceremony, joining a list that's mostly been reserved for movie and music stars, according to ESPN.com.

"To be a part of such elite company is a tremendous honor," Bryant said in a statement. "I'm proud to be the first athlete to be recognized."

The ceremony will take place during All-Star weekend, which will be taking place in L.A.

The footprint/handprint ceremony began in the 1920s, and it has remained a Hollywood institution ever since.
