Korie Lucious Dismissed From Michigan State Basketball Team for Remainder of Season by Tom Izzo Junior guard Korie Lucious has been dismissed from the Michigan State basketball team for the season by head coach Tom Izzo for "conduct detrimental to the program."

The Associated Press reported that Lucious, who averaged 6.5 points per game, has a bit of a checkered history with the Spartans. He was suspended for a game last season for missing a class, and he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless-driving charges in September.

"I didn't live up to the standards of the program," Lucious said in an MSU release. "Unfortunately, I let my teammates, my coaches, and myself down, and wish them the best for the rest of the season."

The university did not say if it expects Lucious to return next year.

Lucious had been struggling mightily, hitting a funk in which he shot just 2-of-19 from the field and going 1-for-8 in a loss to Purdue. Since Dec. 11, he shot 14-for-64 (21.9 percent) from the field.

It's not known what exactly Lucious' conduct was, but he wrote the following on his Twitter account late Tuesday night: "Man did I really mess up this time…off 2 the gym I go!"
