Liverpool unveiled plans of a new supporter consultation group on Friday, linking Reds' fans with the club's senior executives to discuss current issues and to help form the team's future. The Liverpool FC Supporters' Committee will meet on four different occasions throughout the season with senior staff members of the club, lfc.tv reports.

Team owners John Henry and Tom Werner will also join in during the meetings, sitting in for at least two of the four sessions throughout the year.

The supporters' committee will consist of 17 fans that represent all of the major stakeholder groups within the LFC fan base. Liverpool welcomes applications from fans throughout the UK, and will also admit two international fans to the group. Fans of all ages and genders are welcome to apply, even those under 18.

Fans interested in joining the supporters' committee are asked to apply online, with the application deadline falling on Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. The 17 committee members will be selected by a seven-person panel that will review the applications and collectively nominate the best representatives of Liverpool supporters.

The goal of the LFC Supporters' Committee is to not only set up a forum for Reds' supporters to communicate with senior members of the club, but it's also designed to enhance the relationship between the fans and the new club structure at Anfield.

The first inaugural meeting will kick off on May 15, and the details of each meeting will be published online and in-print for other fans to read within 48 hours of the meeting. Each committee member is expected to remain with the group until May 30, 2013.
