It doesn't look like Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is going to move during the time remaining in the January transfer window.

Earlier on Friday, Torres reportedly requested a transfer to Chelsea, claiming a move across the Premier League would be the right career move for him. The club responded later on Friday evening, rejecting Torres' request for a transfer, lfc.tv reports.

"Fernando Torres tonight submitted a written transfer request, which has been rejected by Liverpool," the club-issued statement read.  "Fernando is under a long-term contract and the Club expects him to honor the commitment he made to Liverpool FC and its supporters when he signed the agreement."

Torres' contract with Liverpool runs until the summer of 2013.
