The Providence Bruins aren’t dedicated to just playing hockey. After games and practices, they rush home to play their favorite, highly addictive video game, Call of Duty.
Matt Bartkowski reveals in an interview with Adam Kaufman that he and his teammates play daily together for hours. One teammate once logged 13 straight hours.
Bartkowski adds that the video game is a medium that is both fun and taken very serious with his teammates. Seven or eight of them play online together, whether on the same or opposing squad and communicate together through headsets.
Although it’s a great way to catch up with old friends and teammates, the online play becomes “heated and competitive” and “out of control” at times with frustrated kills and the accompanying trash talk.
The recent release of Call of Duty: Black Ops broke records worldwide. In the first five days after its release, its publisher, Activision, generated more than $650 million in worldwide sales.
