Recently, the Mets' ownership has been in financial peril, looking to sell off 25 percent of the franchise for $250 million.
New York reporter Bob Klapisch revealed, "Attendance is down nearly 15 percent, and there’s been no postseason revenue since the Mets were eliminated in Game 7 of the 2006 NL Championship Series."
But on a brighter note, the team will host the 2013 All-Star Game at Citi Field, according to SI.com.
The decision isn't "official" yet, but it would be the first time the Mets hosted the All-Star game since 1964, the longest drought of any franchise.
The Mets finished last season with a 79-83 record, and failed to miss the postseason for the fourth straight year.
This offseason, ownership fired general manager Omar Minaya and manager Jerry Manuel.
