Although Nomar Garciaparra retired from baseball almost a year ago, he hasn’t forgotten about the game or his fan mail, for that matter.

One fan’s dream came true, albeit 14 years late, as Nomar recently returned Chad Williams’ Garciaparra baseball cards with a gift, an autograph. Williams’ mother was the one who found the envelope and called her son, proclaiming “It’s these baseball cards from a … Nomar Garciaparra? One is signed.”

Garciaparra will always hold a special place in Red Sox fan’s hearts, and stories like this only add to his legacy as one of the best shortstops in Boston history.
