After a brief stint with the Red Sox, right-handed reliever Taylor Buchholz has signed with the New York Mets.
Boston claimed Buchholz off waivers in November from the Toronto Blue Jays, but non-tendered his contract a few weeks later.
The 29-year-old signed to a $600,000, non-guaranteed deal with the Mets on Monday. The contract also includes escalators and performance bonuses, according to the Associated Press.
Buchholz appeared in just nine games last season between Toronto and Colorado, though he was still recovering from Tommy John surgery. Before his elbow injury, Buchholz was considered a solid setup man for the Rockies, and posted a 2.17 ERA in 63 appearances during the 2008 season.
The Mets also signed left-hander Chris Capuano to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million on Monday.
