A person familiar with the talks tells The Associated Press that the Toronto Blue Jays are set to trade All-Star center fielder Vernon Wells to the Los Angeles Angels in a deal that would bring back catcher Mike Napoli.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Friday because the trade was not complete. The deal was pending physicals.

There was speculation the Angels might also include outfielder Juan Rivera in the trade and receive cash from Toronto.

FoxSports.com first reported the potential trade.

The 32-year-old Wells is a three-time All-Star who hit .273 with 31 home runs and 88 RBIs last season. He has four years left on his $126 million, seven-year contract.

Napoli hit .238 with 26 homers and 68 RBIs last season. He ranked among the AL leaders with one home run per 17.4 at-bats.
