Liverpool's struggles in form and results have perhaps affected nobody more than Fernando Torres, calling his goal output, body language, health and future into question.
Now, the issue of his long-term plans will come squarely into the public eye, as Juventus is preparing to make a player-plus-cash offer for the Spanish star, according to Daily Mail.
This deal would reportedly be £25 million ($38 million) in cash plus striker Amauri, though the Turin club has also been linked to Ryan Babel and Daniel Agger as well.
That, though, certainly shouldn't be enough to swoop Torres, given that 30-year-old Amauri is valued in the £10 million range, and Torres is worth upwards of £40 million. The transaction would also make Liverpool older, something that the club does not seem interested in doing.
The Brazilian striker has also been out of form for Juve, having yet to score in the Serie A this season.
Still, the simple fact that a high-profile club is making a somewhat legitimate offer should force the hands of Torres and Liverpool regarding a commitment of some sort.
Kenny Dalglish has already gone on record that it is his intention to get the struggling striker back on track, something most would tip him to do with Liverpool no longer playing Roy Hodgson's defensive style and with a potential striking partner incoming.
Still, while Juventus' bid surely won't be enough to pry Torres away, Manchester City and Chelsea, whose bids could be stratospheric, have long been pursuing him as well. Either Torres must get back to the peak of his game at Anfield, or the rumors will continue to swirl until one finally comes true.
