Japanese star Keisuke Honda has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent months, even proclaiming his desire to play for Liverpool. Now, though, it appears that the Reds are not favorites to land the 24-year-old CSKA Moscow forward, as he is leaning towards playing in La Liga.

Agent Kees Pleogsma told the media in Qatar, where Honda is playing the Asian Cup, of his player's wishes, and particularly noted Atletico Madrid as the likeliest of destinations.

"A number of clubs have expressed their interest," Pleogsma said, according to Sky Sports.

"At this stage, we are waiting for a serious offer. I'm really hoping that something can happen, but we'll have to wait and see."

"The most likely scenario for him at the moment is to remain at CSKA. If they are willing to let him go, Atletico Madrid could be an option.

"He wants to stamp his game on the Spanish style of play."

Honda is also a target of Arsenal's and Aston Villa's. His production in 2010-11 hasn't been particularly strong if you consider him a forward, though his numbers would be good for a midfielder — where he has often played. He has eight goals in 44 appearances this season for the Army Men.
