Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish expressed his frustrations at challenges to the Reds’ transfer bids for Luis Suarez and Charlie Adam.

“The finance is there. Everything is in place but it’s difficult to get players out of other clubs at this time,” Dalglish said to reporters after Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Fulham.

“If we do not get anyone it is not for the want of trying.”

Ajax manager Frank de Boer has set a Saturday deadline for the Suarez negotiations.

Both Suarez and Adam have made clear their desires to play at Anfield. The transfer window closes next Monday.

Dalglish’s quotes counter a report by the Daily Mirror that Liverpool had called off bids for Ajax striker Luis Suarez and Blackpool playmaker Charlie Adam. The Mirror reported that Liverpool bid £12.7 million ($20.3 million) and £4.5 million ($7.2 million) for Suarez and Adam respectively, but each player’s current club was asking for more than double those numbers.

Liverpool will likely continue pursuing other targets such as Aston Villa winger Ashley Young and Wigan attacker Charles N’Zogbia.
