Liverpool is in the midst of negotiations for one 23-year-old star striker in Luis Suarez, but there may soon be another in similar circumstances.

According to MirrorFootball, sources say that Liverpool is interested in bringing Karim Benzema from Real Madrid to Anfield on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Benzema was expected to be vaulted into the starting role at the Bernabeu following the injury to Gonzalo Higuain, but he has scored just one goal in his 18 La Liga appearances, and he has become somewhat unsettled at the club. His performance this year, though, has not been all bad, as he has four goals in three Champions League starts, and four goals in five Copa del Rey matches as well.

Still, Jose Mourinho has been said to be considering bringing Ruud van Nistelrooy to Madrid to further knock Benzema down the pecking order, and when he was questioned about his decisions regarding Benzema's playing time by general director Jorge Valdano, Mourinho responded, "I pick the team, and if I need any help then I have my coaching staff."

Benzema's transfer value is said to be in the vicinity of £22 million. Manchester United has also been long linked to the French international.
