Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano hasn't been fired, but it sure sounds like he might be on his way out, especially considering Miami is already looking for his replacement.
According to ESPN.com, Dolphins ownership flew out to the West Coast to meet with Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh about becoming the team's next head coach. Owner Steve Ross general manager Jeff Ireland and former NFL executive Carl Peterson made the trip to meet with Harbaugh according to ESPN.
Apparently Ross is planning on making Harbaugh, who just led his Stanford Cardinal team to an Orange Bowl win (in Miami, no less), the highest-paid coach in the NFL. His annual salary would be a reported $7-to-$8 million.
Harbaugh, who has also reportedly been contacted by the 49ers for their vacant coaching slot, dodged all questions following the Orange Bowl about his future coaching plans.
Ross reportedly checked with his alma mater, Michigan, to make sure that the Wolverines weren't pursuing Harbaugh in the wake of the university firing Rich Rodriguez on Wednesday.
