Rex Ryan Says Matchup With Peyton Manning, Colts Is 'Personal' Rex Ryan hasn't been all that willing to discuss his personal matters lately, but there is one topic he's willing to discuss: Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.

"Is it personal? Yes, it's personal," Ryan said at his Monday meeting with the media, according to ESPN.com. "It's personal against [Peyton Manning], Reggie Wayne, all those guys, yeah. [Dwight] Freeney and [Robert] Mathis and those other dudes? Absolutely."

Much of that comes from last year's AFC Championship Game, when the Colts halted the Jets' hot streak with a 30-17 victory in Indy. The Colts trailed 17-6 late in the first half, but a trio of Manning touchdown passes revived the Colts and eliminated the Jets.

It clearly was personal when Ryan let slip a foot gaffe in describing his goal to turn the tables on the Colts next weekend.

"You lose a playoff game, it's devastating," the coach said. "I want to put the shoe on the other foot. I know this team does, too. We want him to experience it this time."

While Ryan should probably be more careful with his use of the word "foot," it's clear he's not backing down from anyone this week.

Well, unless you ask him about his wife's feet. That's too personal.
