Ryan Babel Likely Too Expensive for Ajax to Pull Trigger on Amsterdam Reunion

The posturing between Ajax and Liverpool continues, though this instance involved Ryan Babel and not Luis Suarez.

The former Ajax player turned down a move to German club Hoffenheim, despite Liverpool's acceptance of a £5.8 million ($9.2 million) bid for him. His intentions are clear, but that still might not be enough for Ajax, which claims Babel is too costly, according to Daily Mail.

"He would be a very attractive proposition for us … but I can see problems with the financial side of it. It looks a very expensive deal," Ajax manager Frank de Boer said.

Babel has offered to take a pay cut, but de Boer's comments raise doubt that a move could happen.
