Not surprisingly, Tom Brady made the list without any arguments. His company included obvious picks such as Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali and some less-than-obvious choices like Allen Iverson, Kelly Slater and the quintessential Bruin, Derek “Turk” Sanderson.
Sanderson epitomized everything Boston loved in its hockey teams of the late 1960s and early ‘70s. Sanderson earned Bruins fans’ respect for his fearless style of play and legendary ability to be the life of the party — sometimes to the detriment of his own health. Often forgotten is the fact that Sanderson assisted Bobby Orr with a perfect pass from the corner for “The Goal” to win the 1970 Stanley Cup.
“I made the kid famous,” Sanderson joked afterward about Orr.
Boston has had some cool athletes over the years, but who is the coolest of them all? We came up with up a top 10 list, excluding Brady and Sanderson, of course.
Wade Boggs and Bill Walton were the toughest to cut.
