After a whirlwhind day on Monday, Andy Carroll took a few minutes to share his thoughts on joining his new club.
“It’s just a great feeling,” the 22-year-old striker told the club’s official website. “Liverpool is a massive club and it’s nice to be wanted by a club like this.”

The No. 9 jersey that Fernando Torres will be leaving behind won’t stay vacant for long, as Carroll is set to don No. 9 for the Reds.
“It’s a great feeling,” he said. “The No. 9 is a big number and the one I wanted. To get it at Liverpool is a great feeling.
“That’s what I’m hoping for,” he added, when asked about following in the footsteps of Torres, Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush. “I want to go out there and play the football that has brought me here. I want to score goals, set up goals and carry on playing football.”
Carroll, who hasn’t played since late December, said he’s close to beginning his running program to get back in game shape. Once he’s ready, he said he’s looking forward to working with Luis Suarez.
“It’s going to be great to partner with him,” Carroll said. “He’s a great player, but I’m looking forward to playing with all the lads. There are some great players here and I just hope I can fit in well.”
When given a chance to send a message to Liverpool supporters, Carroll was rather clear.
“I just want to repay [the club] for what they have spent,” he said. “I’ll do my best and think I can do it. I want to win trophies with this club and help push us forward.”
