Bartolo Colon Hoping to Lose 25 Pounds in Addition to Securing Roster Spot With Yankees A lot has been made about Yankees pitchers and their weight this season, but it's newly acquired Bartolo Colon who may take the cake in the weight debate.

Colon acknowledged on Friday that he's indeed trying to lose 25 pounds or so in addition to trying to make the Yankees' roster, according to ESPN.com.

The 2005 AL Cy Young winner has never been accused of being skinny, but the 37-year-old showed up to Yankees camp reportedly weighing 267 pounds.

"I would like to go down 25 more pounds, but it is going to be hard to do during spring training," Colon said. "It is too short.

"I feel really good, but I feel like I need to get down my weight a little more."

It's also said that, while Colon's weight is up, his velocity is down to the low-90s.

The weight issue has dominated talks early on at Yankees camp. Ace CC Sabathia showed up to camp 30 pounds lighter, while general manager Brian Cashman admitted that reliever Joba Chamberlain came in "obviously heavier."
