Even though Carmelo Anthony has finally made it to New York, he still seems to be the center of attention in Denver.

According to ESPN.com, Nuggets coach George Karl had some choice words for Melo during the intermission of the Nuggets' matchup against the Celtics on Thursday.

"Melo is the best offensive player I've ever coached," Karl said on the sideline. "But his defensive focus, his demand of himself, is what frustrated us more than anything."

The newest member of the Knicks took the high road and responded to Karl's comments the way any professional athlete would – via Twitter.

"Damn, are u serious," the tweet read. Some people never [cease] to amaze me. Unbelievable."

Melo followed up that tweet minutes later with a few words of wisdom. "WHEN THE GRASS IS CUT THE SNAKES WILL SHOW."

When asked about his former coach, Anthony said he's trying not to dwell too much on the comments, the New York Daily News reports.

"That's him. That's George Karl so I don't really try to pay too much attention to that. I know what I've done there in the 7 1/2 years I've been there; going to the Western Conference Finals. Last year, we were top five in a lot of categories. All that stuff, I don't know where it's coming from. I try not to pay too much attention to it."
