David Ortiz Says He’s More Focused on Improving Against Left-Handed Pitchers This Season

David Ortiz has heard the critics, and he's seen the numbers over the past few years that highlight his struggles against left-handed pitching, and he's looking to improve upon those statistics in 2011.

The Red Sox' slugger sat down with Peter Gammons to discuss his hitting methods at length, and Big Papi said he's going to put more focus on working left-handed pitchers.

"I'm going to start putting more attention to the lefty thing," Ortiz said. "Because I haven't put up good numbers over the past few years against lefties and I think we're seeing more lefties than usual right now."
