Dustin Pedroia talks a lot. We know this, but the problem is we don't often know what he's saying.
So when you catch a glimpse of Pedroia's comedic side, it often elicits some chuckles. This is one of those times.
Peter Gammons recently interviewed 20-year-old Cuban prospect Jose Iglesias, who shared an exchange he had with Pedroia last spring — his first in a big league camp.
"Listen to me," Pedroia told Iglesias while the two were taking cutoffs in practice. "You're with the Red Sox now, and here, I'm Fidel Castro."
Jokes aside, Iglesias told Gammons that Pedroia and Marco Scutaro have been extremely helpful in his adjustment to the U.S. and professional baseball.
"From the time I got here in spring training, people like Marco and Dustin Pedroia have been there every day to help me," Iglesias told Gammons. "They help me understand the way the Red Sox do cutoffs and rundowns, give me advice on how I deal with everything. It's as if I signed with a family."
