The Manchester United football club has apparently returned to financial health, and after speculation to the contrary, its owners have affirmed that they plan to continue with the club for the long haul.

In a statement released this week, the Glazer family announced they plan on sticking with their long-term contract with the club until it expires, ESPN.com reports. Rumors had surfaced recently that the family was considering a takeover deal to sell the team to the royal family of Qatar for £1.6 billion, but they confirmed that those rumors were false and that the club is not for sale.

"The board notes recent press speculation regarding a possible bid for Manchester United," the statement read. "The owners remain fully committed to their long-term ownership of the club. No discussions have taken place, Manchester United is not for sale and the owners will not entertain any offers."

Along with the statement, the team released its quarterly financial figures which showed net assets of about £771 million.
