However, since his first regular-season game with the Black and Gold, Campbell has proven to be a valuable member of the Bruins. While expectations for Campbell weren’t very high, his consistency in all aspects of the game have been a pleasant surprise, to say the least. It’s been enough, really, to consider Campbell as a favorite for the 7th Player Award Presented by Central Auto Group in Norwood.
As the primary fourth-line center, Campbell has embodied the “energy line” moniker that unit has brought to the Bruins this season. Often times, Claude Julien has turned to that line — usually featuring either Brad Marchand or Daniel Paille opposite Shawn Thornton — when the team has needed a jolt of, well … energy.
Campbell’s been there the whole way, ready to answer the bell. He’s a fearless player, and he made quite an impression on his new teammates in the season opener in Prague. There, he dropped the gloves in his debut, setting the tone for the rest of his first season in Boston, a season that has surely surpassed expectations.
