Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard, who has been sidelined for three games with a groin injury, may be returning soon.

The captain could be well enough to return to the lineup Sunday against West Ham, according to Guardian.co.uk.

Manager Kenny Dalglish is optimistic about the situation.

“We’ll just have to see,” he said. “Steven is very close but we don’t know if he will be ready for Sunday.”

In the three games that Gerrard has been absent, Liverpool has gone 1-0-2.

Adding the midfielder back into the mix would help the club, which already has a noteworthy track record when playing West Ham as Liverpool has won 13 of its last 16 league fixtures against the Hammers.
