7:25 p.m.: The Maple Leafs traded away their best defenseman in Tomas Kaberle, but the Leafs may be in the market for blue-line help as the deadline approaches.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, Toronto has made some offers for defensemen, but has yet to find anything. In fact, Dreger tweeted that there is "nothing close" yet on that front.
3:53 p.m.: All that Goligoski chatter was warranted, as Bob McKenzie reports he's on his way to Dallas in exchange for James Neal and Matt Niskanen.
It's certainly not a tremendous return for Goligoski, but the Penguins fill a need at forward and replace Goligoski at the blue line with Niskanen.
2:29 p.m.: Young, talented defensemen don't grow on trees, but the Penguins' injury situation is so dire that they may be willing to part way with Alex Goligoski.
The earlier TSN report was echoed by Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporter Rob Rossi, who said that the Penguins and Stars are talking, with Goligoski "being discussed on Pens end."
Goligoski is signed through next season at just $1.83 million, and 31 points and plus-20 rating makes him a rather desirable trading chip heading into the deadline.
1:54 p.m.: Think the Bruins are happy with their new defensemen?
After just 60 minutes, Tomas Kaberle's new teammates are impressed. NESN's Douglas Flynn has the quotes from B's practice, where Claude Julien, Dennis Seidenberg and Tim Thomas explained how impressive Kaberle was in his Bruins debut.
1:20 p.m.: Oilers D-man Sheldon Souray was there for the taking, but nobody wanted him. He cleared waivers, according to several reports on Monday. He'll likely remain in the AHL, despite his 650 games of NHL experience. Interesting, to say the least, that not one team in need of a defenseman took the risk.
12:06 p.m.: Dreger also reported that a deal may be in the works between the Penguins and Stars, with Alex Goligoski and James Neal reportedly involved.
"Not saying it's going to happen, but considering what went down in the wee hours Saturday morning between the Blues and Avs, it's most certainly possible," Dreger wrote.
11:08 a.m.: According to TSN's Darren Dreger, things have "settled down" for Zach Bogosian in Atlanta, and it's unlikely the Thrashers will be dealing him.
However, Dreger did note that Bogosian isn't considered "untouchable."
10:15 a.m.: The Minnesota Wild will be looking for a center this week, as Mikko Koivu will be out at least three weeks with a broken finger, reports the Star Tribune.
10:02 a.m.: The Rangers are somewhat in free fall, and thanks to a concussion sustained by Marian Gaborik, they may not be able to even be sellers.
The New York Post notes that Gaborik had been feeling some concussion-like effects for a week before he needed to leave Sunday's game. Larry Brooks says that the injury could have an effect on teams' interest in Gaborik leading up to the deadline. With the way teams have treaded cautiously regarding Brad Richards, that's a safe bet.
9:30 a.m.: After an active weekend on the trade front, here's hoping the action remains hot as the deadline rapidly approaches.
The deadline, of course, is seven days away, but with several trades already completed, you never know what to expect.
One thing you shouldn't be expecting, however, is any firings in Colorado. The Denver Post is reporting that both head coach Joe Sacco and general manager Greg Sherman won't be fired, despite the team's 10-game losing streak.
