Despite a farm system shake-up in order to obtain one of the game's best sluggers, the Red Sox are still well represented on this year's Baseball America Top 100 Prospects list.
The respected publication released its annual list of baseball's top prospects on Wednesday, and there were three members of the Red Sox on the list.
The highest Sox prospect was shortstop Jose Iglesias who came in at No. 52. It's Iglesias' debut on the list, as he was omitted from last year's version.
Joining Iglesias on the list are a pair of fellow first-timers. Anthony Ranaudo, a 2010 draft pick also made the list, at No. 67. Ranaudo was drafted in the supplemental round by the Sox last June. He made a brief, yet dominating stint in the Cape League before signing with Boston after mulling over a potential return to LSU.
Also making the list was left-handed pitcher Drake Britton, a 2007 23rd-round draft pick. Britton, who routinely throws in the mid- to high-90s, spent his 2010 season in Greenville where he started 21 games. He's filling the No. 97 slot.
Former Red Sox prospect Casey Kelly was on the list again, this year at No. 31. Kelly was of course traded to the Padres this winter along with Anthony Rizzo (No. 75) and Reymond Fuentes, in exchange for first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.
