For weeks now, trade rumors about Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony have played out like a soap opera. So much speculation has cropped up it seems that not even Anthony has any clue as to where he’ll end up.

First, Melo was going to New Jersey, but then those talks fell through because he expressed that he wasn’t interested in a long-term deal with the Nets.

The Denver Post is now reporting that the Nuggets forward is showing some interest in signing a three-year, $65 million extension with Denver if he isn’t traded prior to the Feb. 24 deadline.

Anthony told the paper that he’d “take a real hard look” at signing the extension that was proposed to him over the summer if a trade cannot be worked out.

Anthony had recently been linked as part of a three-team deal including the Nuggets, Knicks and Timberwolves, but the most recent rumor had Anthony’s name mentioned in trade talks with the Lakers. There have been reported talks involving Anthony heading to L.A. in a deal that would include Lakers center Andrew Bynum, although Anthony claims he hasn’t heard anything about it.

“I’ve never heard of that. That was a new one,” he said. “It is what it is. Everyday is something different. I guess now is the Lakers.”

Anthony will enter free agency at the end of this season.
