With Jamie Carragher aging and Martin Skrtel and Sotirios Kyrgiakos perhaps not ideal first-choice center backs, Kenny Dalglish is expected to look to add to the defensive line in the summer. To that end, Dalglish has received some encouraging news, as Wolfsburg is reportedly willing to sell Liverpool target Simon Kjaer in the summer for around  £10 million.

Wolfsburg, in the midst of a disastrous season that cost manager Steve McLaren his job, is apparently in such financial peril that they are willing to part ways with a player that they signed just last summer, according to Sky Sports.

Kjaer, 21, already has 15 international caps with Denmark to his name, including two strong performances at the 2010 World Cup. Kjaer was rumored to be the subject of bids from Premier League clubs during the January window, but his agent, Mikkel Beck, recently dispelled those rumors.

"Last summer there were many rumors of a move to Premier League.

"But we decided to sign with Wolfsburg and we are very happy with this decision. No English club has contacted me in January, but England is a country where every player wants to play one day.

"I cannot recommend Simon to go to play in Premier, he will decide. In January, I did not speak to any club because at this time Kjaer has no intention of going away from Wolfsburg," Beck said.

In addition to Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs have been linked to Kjaer. Chelsea, which was highly interested in Kjaer this past summer, may no longer be in the picture given the recent signing of David Luiz.

Still, given the presence of Danish center-back partner Daniel Agger at Anfield, Liverpool is widely considered the favorite to land Kjaer's services.
