Almost a month ago New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov went before the media and defiantly proclaimed that his team was out of the running for Carmelo Anthony. It seems now, though, that he may have changed his mind.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Nets and Nuggets have restarted talks about a trade for the All-Star forward. The report, citing league sources, also says that the two sides have been discussing the deal for a week now.

"It has taken too long," Prokhorov said in a news conference before a Jan. 19 game for the Nets. "It has been played out in public, and it certainly has taken a toll on the players and I believe that it has cost us several games. I think management did a great job, but there comes a time when the price is simply too expensive. I'm instructing our team to walk away from the deal."

If the Nets truly have changed their minds, it's believed that the asking price is still high for Anthony. The report also states that rookie forward Derrick Favors would still have to be involved in any potential trade. It's also likely that the Nets would have to come to terms on a contract extension — three years, $65 million has been floated around throughout talks — before any deal is made. Anthony is slated to be a free agent after this season.
